In this ongoing series, we take a look ahead at US-bred and/or sired runners entered for the upcoming weekend on courses at the Japan Racing Association circuit, with an emphasis on pedigree and/or sales ring performance. Here are the interesting horses for this weekend at Chukyo Racecourse. Sunday’s G2 Kinko Sho in Chukyo sees Group 1 5-year-old fillies Lei Papale (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) and Akai Ito (Jpn) (Kizuna {Jpn}) take on the likes of Potager (Jpn) at. (Deep Impact {Jpn} x Ginger Punch) and the Veteran Gibeon (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn} x Contested):

ENTRY CODE (f, 3, Point of Entry – Indian Valley, from Cherokee Run) is a half sister to MGSP Splashy Kisses (Blame) and descends from a winning half sister to SW Chhaya Dance (AP Indy) and to Convocation (Pulpit), who placed three times. The filly’s third dam, Color Chart (Mr. Prospector), three times winner at group level in France and placed in no fewer than three Grade Is in that country, was responsible for Eclipse Award-winning young filly Tempera (AP Indy) and MGSW /G1SP Stable Master (St Jovite). BAHIR DAR (c, 3, American Pharoah–Llanarmon, from Sky Mesa) hasn’t had a bad one in three starts so far, having finished second in his first two appearances at Hanshin late last year before breaking through with an easy maiden win at Kokura on January 29th. Shadai Corporation privately acquired the dam of the end of April 2018 foal, winner of the GII 2013 Natalma S., and she was mated to Mendelssohn in Kentucky before being exported to Japan. CORDON ROUGE (f, 3, American Pharoah–Champagne Room, from Broken Vow) is the first foal for her mother, the two-year-old 2016 Champion Mare and GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies hero, who produced this filly on February 24th, was mated to Justify and sent to Japan. Champagne Room, who dropped a colt by the Triple Crown winner at Northern Farm on March 14, 2020, is a daughter of Lucky To Be Me (Bernstein), sold by Katsumi Yoshida in November 2017 for $1.25 million was purchased in Keeneland before moving on to produce GSP Fidele (Jpn) (Heart’s Cry {Jpn}). Lucky To Be Me passed away in 2021. American Pharoah sired 75% winners of starters in Japan (21/28). B-Northern Farm (KY)
