In this ongoing series, we take a look forward to US-bred and / or designed runners enrolled on the Japan Racing Association circuits for the coming weekend with an emphasis on pedigree and / or sales ring performance. Here are the interesting horses for this weekend racing on the Tokyo and Hanshin horse races. Each of the remaining seven weekends in 2021 will have a Group 1 that begins with Japan’s version of the Queen Elizabeth II Cup for mares and mares, a race that Loves Only You (Jpn) would have attracted if their groundbreaking win at the Breeders’ Cup :

POISON ARROW (c, 2, Arrogate – Crosswind, from Storm Cat) was well-beaten on his debut on the dirt in July but was perky in two attempts on the turf, including a solid fourth place finish in Sapporo on August 21st. when his half-sister Weep No More (Mineshaft) upset the 2016 GI Central Bank Ashland S., while half-brother Current (Curlin) won the GIII Dixiana Bourbon S. in 2018. The second dam of Poison Arrow is GI Kentucky Oaks and GI Alabama S. Heldin Flute (Seattle Slew), who produced the GSW & MGISP Lawn Distaffer Filimbi (Mizzen Mast). B-Hinkle Farms (KY)

SHIRAKINU (f, 2, Frosted – fulfills expectations, through valid expectations), a graduate of last year’s $ 335,000 Fasig-Tipton Selected Yearlings Showcase, fought valiantly from a tall goal on her debut but gave in late to finish second, hitting 3/4 of a length that distance in Tokyo on October 30th (see below, SC 15). The Godolphin colorbearer is a half sister to GISW World of Trouble (Kantharos) and SW Money Or Love (J Be K) and her mother is a half sister to the multiple graded stakes winner Bucchero (Kantharos).B-Darsan Inc & Godolphin (FL)
