Live updates on the coronavirus: India reported 62,480 new Covid-19 infections and 1,587 deaths in the past 24 hours on Friday, according to the Ministry of Health.
The total number of cases in the country stands at 29,762,793 and the death toll stands at 383,490. The daily recoveries exceeded the daily number of new cases for the 36th day in a row. The daily test positivity rate – positive cases identified for every 100 tests – continued to decline. It was 3.24 percent – below 5 percent for the eleventh day in a row.
It is very unlikely that a future wave of Covid-19 infections will disproportionately affect children aged two and over, according to a Sero survey by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), New Delhi.
